THE BOOK OF WISDOM

They brought The Book of Wisdom
and asked me to lay
my lifeline on his cover. I did.
They asked me to swear by the closed book
that they did not want me to read.I did.

Across the floor of the courtroom
I saw the truth faint, her face was gaunt:
she has been malnourished for centuries
and she could not stand Time any longer

She collapsed on her knees,
her back to them.
I left the stand and the fat Book.
She was dying fast

I gave her some sweetness
from my heart
and some bitterness
from my life
in a tear drop
her pulse was so faint.
I asked her:Why are you not at home
in the cozyness
of the prosperous Book?

She said: I cannot breathe,
the powdered wigs have polluted
my mind,
I cannot think fair.
All that is left
is the intent to hurt

Her last words to me remain
an unresolved enigma
She said :I died a Truth,
and was born a lie.
